Providing a market leading non-domestic rates advice to both occupiers and landlords alike, our comprehensive rating service encompasses all classes of property throughout the UK and Ireland with a particular expertise in managing retail, leisure and hospitality non-domestic rates assessments. We act for businesses of all sizes from ratepayers with an individual site through to large national operators with considerable property portfolio and rates liability.
We cover an end-to-end rating service for clients including rates bill management which encompasses the following:
• Budgeting & provisioning figures
• Receiving, checking and approving rates bills
• Providing regular rates liability reports
• Minimising rates liabilities on vacant properties
• Applying for temporary reliefs (e.g. during refurbishments).
Upon instruction we also immediately carry out an audit of historic rates bills & payments.
The team have considerable experience in contesting rates assessments and can navigate the ratepayer through the complicated Check, Challenge, Appeal process. We can advise upon contesting facts adopted including floor areas or the underlying value applied.
Prior to advising upon potentially opposing a particular rates assessment we carry out a full site inspection to ensure that the best course of action is adopted.
We also advise on seeking rates reductions for short term events both internal (e.g. redevelopment works) and external (e.g. roadworks) which impact operations. The team also have much experience of appealing Completion Notices & Transitional Certificates and work with Councils and the Government valuers to bring assessments into the rating system.
